Beary Special

Today's card was inspired by the current MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge.

I'm trying to stock up on my birthday cards so I can start on Christmas cards early and not worry about missing someone's birthday in the later months of the year. The Birthday Bears set is the perfect set for either a man or a woman and I think it's super cute!

I started by cutting a piece of cardstock down to 3 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches and rounding the corners with a punch. I used a mask I made from a die to sponge clouds onto the white piece. It's hard to see in the picture, but it's really pretty IRL. I heat embossed my sentiment on a piece of green cardstock and used the Grassy Fields die to cut down the top. I trimmed the edges down so it fit the sentiment a little better.

I stamped my images and colored them with Copics and used my Brother Scan N Cut 2 to cut them out. I also cut my two flags using a stitched banner die from coordinating colors for my images (green for the grass and teal for the icing and balloon). I prepared my card base by stamping the Fine Chevron background stamp in Versamark ink for a watermark look. Now it was time to put it all together!

I adhered my flags directly to the card base with some doubled sided Be Creative Tape and adhered my sky piece on top with some foam tape. I didn't want to add too much bulk, so this is the only piece I used foam tape for. I arranged my bear where I wanted him to sit and added the grass on top of him. I adhered the balloon in his hand and the cake in front of him. I finished the card by adding a little Clear Wink of Stella to the balloon and the icing on the cake.

  2. What a great design using that sketch, Rachel, and what a fun birthday card to make a lot of so you can bring smiles to several celebrants!! Pinning so I can do that, too! Hugs, Darnell
