Kennedy Grace Creations March Release Blog Hop!

Welcome, crafting and cardmaking friends!!! This is a Kennedy Grace Creations blog hop! We are debuting our newest 4"x6" clear stamp set - Sweet Baby Mine! (PLUS- we have some new sequins to coordinate with this set, called Baby Blanket). Please hop along through to see ou talented design team's creations!

I just love this little hippo from the new set! She's simply adorable! I stamped her and then colored her in with my Copics and did a little fussy cutting (even though I hate it!) so I could put here on a shaker card because I just knew I had to use these beautiful new sequins with her!

I started my shaker portion by cutting a piece of white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die and then adding a stitched circle to the center. I used another stamp set (Grace's Little Notes) to add flowers around the circular cut out. I then used my Copics to color the flowers and used colors that would coordinate not only with the sequins but with my already colored hippo.

I adhered some acetate to the back of my panel and then used 2 layers of foam tape on the back so the sequins would have plenty of room to move. (That's my little secret. Two layers. One layer just never seemed to be enough space for me!)

I cut and prepared my card base and then using my MISTI, I stamped my sentiment where it would appear centered in my circular cutout. I added my sequins on top of my card base and then carefully adhered my panel on top. Using some more adhesive, I attached my little hippo image in the right bottom corner to finish it off. Super cute!

Bean Meaning to Say...

In case you haven't heard yet, Lawn Fawn recently launched a new challenge blog called Lawn Fawnatics! I was super sad about the Lawnscaping Challenge shutting down, but this takes the sting out of it a little bit.

I got a few items from Lawn Fawn's newest release, but haven't had time or mojo to use them yet. I remedied that today!

It's a simple card, but I still love it! I used the How You Bean stamp set to stamp my jar and the beans inside and then colored them in with my Copics. I used my MISTI to line up my sentiment and stamped that under the images. I adhered my panel to a card base and that was it! Easy-peasy!

CASology: Text

Hello and welcome! We have a brand new cue over at CASology for you to play with!

The first thing that came into my mind when I saw this cue was a beautiful script background stamp that emulates the text of a Victorian letter. I sometimes find it hard to keep a card clean and simple while using a background stamp, but I've learned a few tricks along the way.

One of the tricks I've learned is to use masking to isolate a portion of the background stamp so that it doesn't overwhelm your design. I used that trick here. I'm going to try to do a step-by-step list for this card. (Just a way to make my writing a little more clear during the creative process!)

1. Cut and fold a card base from white cardstock.
2. I cut a mask for the whole card front using masking paper and a circle die. I positioned the circle where I wanted my stamping to show through.
3. Without adhering the left-over circle piece, I used it as a guide to roughly place where I wanted my butterflies to overlap the text. Then, using my MISTI, I stamped all the layers of my butterflies.
4. I cut masks for both of my butterflies (I didn't want the text to show through their wings where the stamps overlapped). Masked off both butterflies.
5. Using my MISTI as a guide, I placed my card-front mask over the card.
6. I inked up my background stamp and stamped through the mask to create my circle of text.
7. Remove all masks.
8. Stamp the sentiment in black ink.

Easy-peasy! And as a plus, it's a one-layer card! Super great for mailing which is something I'm always looking for!

As always, I can't wait to see how you're inspired by our cue this week! Happy Crafting!

CASology: Melt

Hello, everyone! I'm back today with a brand new cue from CASology!

Now that it's getting warm out, my mind naturally wanders to the fun of summer. One of my favorite things on a hot summer day is a scoop of ice cream!

These die cuts from My Favorite Things are one of the first things I bought from them. I still love them even years later! I cut the pieces of my ice cream from different papers and then adhered them together with some liquid adhesive. I finished off my chocolate sauce with a layer of Glossy Accents for some fun texture and shine. I added a little stitched detail to my card base behind my images with a stitched line die and then adhered my heart to the card base. I adhered my ice cream with some foam tape for dimension and then stamped my sentiment in basic black.

Thanks for joining me today and I can't wait to see how you're inspired by this week's cue!

CASology: Foliage

Hello, everyone! I'm finally back after my extended break and CASology has a brand new cue for you today.

My brain is still in sympathy mode, so I created a sympathy card using a pretty leaves die from Simon Says Stamp.

I started my card by preparing a Fog Gray card base and then cutting my leaves out of white cardstock and vellum. I trimmed a few leaves from each spring to make them appear a little different from each other and then layered them on my base. I heat embossed my sentiment onto black cardstock with white powder and then added some foam tape to the back of it. I used this foam tape the sentiment to secure my foliage the card base. I added a few dots of liquid adhesive behind a couple of the white leaves to keep everything adhered down, but left most of the leaves free. It adds some wonderful texture to the card when some of the leaves are able to float off the card base. I finished it off by adding just a few Onyx black sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

I can't wait to see how you're inspired by the new cue!
