Less Is More - Fireworks

Today's card is a clean and simple one made for the current Less Is More challenge - Fireworks!

Now, let me start by saying that this was a color challenge and my card is black and white. The reason behind that is that my absolute favorite color of firework is the sparkling silver/gold. There's just something magical about them. So while this may be a very liberal interpretation of this cue, it was still inspired by it.

I wanted to make this look like a fireworks display over New York, so I used the New York skyline die to cut out a silhouette in black. I experimented with using a navy or darker gray cardstock as a base, but I ended up liking this middle-tone gray the best. The fireworks still stand out on it, but it also allows the skyline to shine as well.

I stamped my fireworks above where I wanted to adhere my skyline and then heat embossed them in silver. I adhered the skyline directly to the card using some Multi Medium Matte and then heat embossed my sentiment on top of it in white powder.

When you tilt the card in the light it has some great shimmer that remind of those beautiful sparkly fireworks.

CASology: Odd

Hello! It's time for a brand new cue from CASology and I'm super excited about this one!

There are a lot of interpretations of this cue, but my mind immediately went to this super cute set from the Greeting Farm featuring a bunch of different Hatters. One of my all-time favorite characters is the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, so I just knew I needed to use one of them for this cue. I mean, what's odder than the Mad Hatter?

I used this picture of Johnny Depp from the live-action movie for my coloring inspiration:

I stamped my image (Bennett) from the Hatters collection on some white cardstock and then colored him in using my Copics (listed below). I cut him out with a Wonky Stitched Rectangle die and then adhered him to a Crumb Cake card base. I cut a small folded banner from some black cardstock and then gently bent my sentiment so that it curved to match the banner. I stamped it on the banner in Versamark ink and heat embossed in white embossing powder. I adhered it on top of my oval and I was all done!

The Challenge 92

Hello, everyone! I'm back today with brand new inspiration from The Challenge!

I decided to go with pink for my color because I really wanted to use this fun flamingo background stamp.

My mother's favorite animal is the flamingo, so I always think of her whenever I use them when I'm creating. I guess you could say she was my inspiration for this card.

I started by cutting my watercolor paper down with my largest gift card layer die. I stamped my flamingo background in Versamark ink and then heat embossed it in white. I used one color of distress ink - Worn Lipstick - to watercolor over the background a few times, increasing the pigmentation each time.

I stamped my small sentiment on black cardstock using Versamark ink and heat embossed in white yet again. I cut my large You from white cardstock and then adhered both pieces on top of my panel (that was already attached to a white card base) using some foam tape for a little bit of dimension.

I finished the whole thing off by adding a small sprinkling of Sparkling Clear sequins.

CASology: Diamond

Hello, everyone! I'm back today with a new cue from CASology and it's also my birthday!

I have a couple of sets from The Ton Stamps that are absolutely perfect for this cue. I decided to use my favorite for this: Heart Diamonds.

I started by cutting my a panel for my card that is approximately 3 1/2 inches by 5 1/2. I cut some small strips of white paper and set them aside as well. (They're about 1/4 inch.)

I used my MISTI to stamp the largest heart diamond in the center top of my card and then used the smallest heart diamond on either side of the first. I stamped my sentiment just below my hearts.

I adhered my panel to a pink card base and then covered my small strips of white paper in Versamark ink. I heat embossed two layers of silver embossing powder on them to create my own metallic paper. I adhered them beside my panel using some multi-medium matte.

The Challenge 88

Hello! I'm back today with a new challenge from The Challenge! We have some keywords for this week.

And here's my take on the keywords!

I heat embossed my image on some Ranger Watercolor paper in white embossing powder and then used my Zig Clean Color Brushes to color them in. I trimmed my piece down to a 4x4 square and then adhered it to a card base. I used two sizes of Wonky Stitched Rectangles to create a frame and then heat embossed my sentiment onto some vellum with rose gold embossing powder. I placed my sentiment strip where I wanted it to be and then captured it underneath the foam tape from my frame so that no adhesive would show through. I finished it off by adding a few rose gold sequins.
