Dahlia Hello

I got some major happy mail while we were away on vacation and the gorgeous Dahlia stamp from WPlus9 was one of the things I received. I couldn't wait to ink it up, so here it is for today's card!

I simply cut a panel with a Wonky Stitched Rectangle die and then stamped the image in the bottom left corner. I used the Hello sentiment from the set and placed it in the bottom right corner. I colored the image with my copics, using the color inspiration from the current Color Throwdown as my guide. I added a few scattered clear droplets after I mounted the panel on a card base. I love the Beautiful Bouquets series that Dawn is currently doing! The images are amazing!

I'm also going to enter this card into the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Make It Girly!

Geometric Thanks

I've been busy all morning - doing laundry, cleaning, making cards, and prepping blog posts! My husband and I are leaving on Monday morning for a trip to Florida to visit with family, so I'm trying to get everything ready for our trip. That means I'm also scheduling a few blog posts for while we're away so there will still be something here for you to read!

A brand new challenge went up today on Less Is More and I couldn't help but play along. The challenge is to make a one layer card (which I love!) with geometric shapes/patterns. I combined it with the current Color Throwdown to create this!

I started by stamping my sentiment in black ink. I used my Misti so I could re-stamp if it wasn't bold and black the first time. Good thing I did! I actually had to stamp that Thanks 3 times before it looked the way I wanted it to! After the sentiment was perfect, I stamped a few of the octagon shapes in different colors of ink. I kept it simple without any extra embellishment because I liked the look. There's just something so nice about the crisp, clean shapes!

This will be my last "live" post for a week, but I hope you'll be back for my upcoming scheduled posts!

Hello Baby

My cousin's baby shower is coming up at the end of the month and while I can't be there (I live too far away), I still want to send her a nice card and a gift certificate. That's what I sat down today to make and I used the color inspiration from Color Throwdown as a guide. She's having a boy and their color combination of teal, lime, and white is perfect for a little boy!

The little dragons from Clearly Besotted's Hot Stuff set were just too cute to pass up for this card. I colored a couple of them and then chose the one I liked the best. (That little guy in the egg is so adorable!) I knew from the beginning that I wanted to create a shaker card, so I looked to Mama Elephant's Madison Avenue dies for assistance. The frame is absolutely perfect for a shaker. I used the piece that cuts out from the inside as my colored backdrop. I blended Twisted Citron from the bottom to the middle and then Peacock Feathers from the top down and mixed them in the  middle. It's hard to see with the sequins in the way, but I wanted you to see all that fun shimmer! The tags were simply die cut and stacked together. I tied them together with a bit of silver thread and made a tiny bow at the top. I carefully separated them and then added a little adhesive between the layers so all the colors would show. The top tag was stamped with a tiny message from a coordinating stamp set.

I adore how this card turned out and I really hope that my cousin loves it as much as I do. Now I have those extra dragons I colored staring at me from my desk. I guess I'll have to make some more cards with them!

Miss You Always

I drew inspiration from several challenges for today's card, but my main inspiration was a friend that lives back home in Indiana that I haven't seen in over a year. I miss her terribly and wanted to send her something to let her know I was thinking about her.

This is a fairly simple and straight forward design, but the layering stamps I used make it look so elegant with little effort. I can't recommend Altenew's stamps enough; they're absolutely wonderful! The particular stamp set I used for this card was a collaboration between Altenew and Simon Says Stamp for this year's Stamptember release. I simply stamped the flowers and leaves in each of the layers with different shades of ink in order to create those gorgeous flowers. I finished my panel by heat embossing the sentiment in gold and adding a few gold sequins. I adhered the panel to the base with foam tape for some dimension.

I'm entering this card into four separate challenges -
Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge - Sparkle and Shine
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - A Bit of Green
Less Is More - Citrus Colors
Color Throwdown - Green, Yellow, Orange, and White
