I'm beginning to get my stuff together and start making cards for upcoming events and that includes Father's Day. Today, I sat down and created a card for my husband's dad. (I have an idea for my dad, but I don't post his things since he stalks my blog and social media... :P)
I hadn't tried to make a galaxy background yet, so I decided today would be a good day to try something new! I used distress inks and an ink blending tool to create the swirly background. I tried using black on a trashed piece and it just looked way too dark for my taste, so I stuck to blues and purples. I'm kind of in love with it! After I randomly blended my inks into it, I splattered it with water and blotted it away to create the starry look.
I set that aside and then stamped each of my images on some white cardstock. I used my Copics to color them all in and then cut them out with my Brother Scan N Cut 2. I arranged them approximately where I wanted them on the card front and then used two separate Clearly Besotted sets to piece together my sentiment. I used the "you're" from Cool Dude and the "out of this world" from the set of the same name. I just used some post it tape to mask off the pieces of the sentiments that I didn't want to use when I inked them up and then removed the tape before stamping. Simple way to selectively stamp and not have to cut my stamps apart. (I sometimes do cut my stamps, but these sentiments were just too close together to get in there with my scissors.) I used Versamark ink so I could heat emboss the sentiment in white.
I finished it off by adhering my blended panel to a card base with some double sided tape and then adhered my images with foam tape for dimension.
I hope he likes it!

CASology: Medicine
Hello, everyone! I'm here today with a brand new cue from CASology!
I actually got this super cute stamp set from MFT Stamps a month or so ago and haven't had an opportunity to ink it up yet. This cue gave me just the reason to break it out and use it!
1. I started by cutting a panel using a stitched rectangle die.
2. I used my MISTI to line up my medicine bottles and stamp them all at the same time.
3. Again, I used my MISTI to stamp my sentiment beneath my images.
4. I used my Copics to color my images. (Orange - YR 02, YR04, and YR07 Green - G05, G17, and G28 Brown - E25, E27, and E29 Labels E000, E50, E51, E53 Pink - R11, R20, R22)
5. I used my Copics to add shading underneath the bottles (W00, W1, W3) and around them (C00, C1, C3).
6. I cut and folded a card base from Neenah Solar White cardstock.
7. I adhered my panel to the card base using my tape runner.
Thanks for joining me today! I hope you're inspired to join us this week!

CASology: Loud
Hello, everyone! There's a brand new cue up from CASology for this week and a brand new sponsor as well! If you've followed my blog for a while, you'll already know how I feel about Sunny Studio Stamps, but in case you don't know already... I LOVE THEM!
I think my dogs would agree with me when I say that vacuums are loud! (And they would also add "scary" as well!)
1. I cut and folded a Neenah Solar White card base.
2. I used a die to cut a circle from masking paper and adhered the negative piece over the top of my card base.
3. I used 2 colors of blue ink (Broken Chine and Tumbled Glass distress inks) to ink my circle. I kept the darker Broken China toward the bottom of the circle and blended the Tumbled Glass upward from it to create some dimension.
4. I stamped my vacuum on some scrap paper and used my Copics to color it. (B34, B37, B39, C1, C3, and C5)
5. Using my MISTI, I stamped my sentiment underneath my circle.
6. I used my Brother Scan N Cut 2 to cut my vacuum out.
7. I adhered my vacuum with some foam tape for a little more dimension.
That's all! It's a super simple card, but I love how it turned out. I hope you'll join us this week and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

CASology: Warm
Hello, everyone! I'm back today with a new cue from the CASology challenge!
When I think warm weather, I automatically think pineapples and flowers. I'm a tropical girl at heart! (Plus, I'm also a little bit obsessed with pineapples...)
This is a super simple card. Just one layer and only stamping!
1. I started my card by stamping the yellow base of my pineapple and then the green stem.
2. I stamped the pineapple detail over the top with some light brown ink.
3. I positioned the sentiment so that it was slightly overlapping my image and then stamped it twice in dark brown ink (the first stamping was a little splotchy).
4. I felt that it was missing a little something, so I added a pink flower at the end of the sentiment.
That's it! Super fast to make and an absolutely sweet encouragement card! Thanks for joining me today and I can't wait to see how you're inspired by our cue!
