I've been feeling a lack of mojo lately. Maybe it was the holidays or maybe it's just lingering from the move. Maybe it's a combination of the two! Anyway, whatever the cause, I found myself avoiding the craft room. I decided to sit down and just craft today. My husband's out of town on a business trip and I cleaned the whole house yesterday, so I have nothing to distract me.
After several failed attempts that ended up in the recycling bin, I came up with this beauty.
My "something new" is the beautiful cover plate by Ellen Hutson that I used for my background. I just love the subtle detail it gives a card without adding a ton of bulk. My focal image is made up of several stamps from the Sketch Ranunculus set from Simon Says Stamp. I heat embossed each image in white and then used my ink blending tool to blend different colors of ink into the images. I tried to keep the color darker in the center of my flowers and fade it out toward the edges to give them some dimension. I heat embossed my sentiment on black and added a small heart at the end to try to balance the image on the other side.
I added some clear Wink of Stella to the flowers to give them some subtle shimmer. I also added some to the heart at the end of the sentiment and then added some Glossy Accents to it as well.
I'm entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Something New and the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge which is also Something New. (Fortunately, I just got this cover plate in the mail a few days ago and felt inspired!)
This is seriously gorgeous, Rachel!!!
ReplyDeleteI just admired this beauty over at Flickr...such a gorgeous card, Rachel! I love the softness of the blooms and leaves and how you added texture with the Impression Plate! Really striking design, too!
ReplyDeleteA very gorgeous card Rachel ! I love this stamp set from SSS and your coloring is fabulous! I feel exactly like you : lack of mojo and avoiding my craft room, it must be the over excitement with all the festivities of the end of year!
