Smooth Birthday

Today's card started out clean and simple and then took a dive into a little busier territory. That sometimes happens and sometimes it's for the best. This time, it definitely was!

I started with my background piece. I knew I wanted to use the Waves stencil from Simon Says Stamp, so I picked out some Distress inks that I knew would blend really well. I chose Carved Pumpkin and Abandoned Coral, one of my favorite combos! I started by inking the carved pumpkin over my whole piece and then laid my stencil over the top and taped it down with some Painter's Tape. I used a blending tool to very carefully ink the Abandoned Coral over the top. It creates this beautiful deep orange but still pinky color. I lifted the stencil and then splattered some water droplets over the piece and lifted the color with a paper towel.

Next up was my image panel. I cut a piece using the same die I used for the background, but then used my paper trimmer to cut it down on both the top and bottom. I used my MISTI to stamp the images so I was sure they were straight and then added the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear heat embossed over the top of it. I colored all the images with my Copics and then added a bit of Clear Wink of Stella to the liquid in the blender and the glass. I used some foam tape to pop the panel up on top of my background piece and then finished it off with a sprinkling of Strawberry Burst sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

I'm going to enter this creation into both the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge (use a stencil) and the Lawnscaping Challenge (Distress products).
