I was recently asked to step in as the Guest Designer for the month of February over at The Card Concept blog. I'm being featured as a Clean and Simple designer which is normally what my work falls into. I try not to limit myself to one style, but as you know, I typically go for a clean look anyway.
This week's inspiration is this picture:
Yummy! Look at those scrumptious cookies! That's immediately where my head went. I don't really have many cookie stamps, but I do have the pizza set from Lawn Fawn...
I turned those little heart shaped pizzas into cookies just by changing up the way I color them! How fun is that!? I simply stamped the center cookie on a panel and then masked it off with some masking paper to stamp the other two "behind" it. I colored them in with my copics and then added clear Wink of Stella to the frosting for some fun shimmer. I finished the card with a sentiment from another set by Paper Smooches. I love that whimsical font that Kim uses!
Like I said, this card is very simple, but it's striking with all that white space. I just love how it turned out and I can't wait to send it to someone!
And this is also just in time for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge! This week is to "Have a Heart" and this fits perfectly with those sweet cookie images. I'm also entering it into the Lawnscaping Challenge, which is Sending Love.

Donuts and BBQ
I have 2 cards to share with you today, so let's get started!
My first card was created by using a ton of masking. I stamped that very top donut first and then masked it off and stamped the donut underneath. And so on and so on... Until I had a pretty little stack of five donuts! I colored them with my copics and added some shiny Wink of Stella to the icing on each one.
You can see the pretty shine on the purple donut in this closer picture. It's really pretty when you're holding it in your hand!
I'm entering this one into the Paper Smooches Challenge. This month is to make something Fun and Cute! I can't think of anything more fun than a stack of donuts. Add to that the rainbow colors and boy is it cute!
Next up is another Valentine's Day card. I made this one for one of my nephews.
My nephews love a good pun and this delivers. I love this cute Lawn Fawn set! This another card that uses a ton of masking. I started by stamping the hamburger and the flames and masked them all off. Then I stamped the grill on top of them and masked it off. With everything masked, I sponged the green and blue for the background. Finish all that with the sentiment and the smoke and all the stamping is done and I was ready to color the rest with my Copics!
This card is being entered into the Lawnscaping Challenge. This week is "Sending Love". I thought this fit since it's a Valentine's Day card.

Always
If you're looking for my first ever post as a designer for The Challenge, please scroll down one post!
I have a fun story for you today! My husband just recently had a mini-vacation from work. He took 4 days off in a row because he'd put in so many hours (poor guy!). Anyway, I guess he got bored because he decided to go snooping around my craft room. And by snooping, I mean he picked a stack of cards up off my desk and leafed through them (how rude!). Unfortunately, his Valentine just happened to be in that stack! Oh no, whatever shall I do? I guess I'll make another one! (Such hardship!)
Super simple, but striking. I used a die cut from Simon Says Stamp for the heart and a beautiful sentiment from MFT Stamps. I literally put this together in less than 5 minutes, but I love how it turned out. Plus, it would be super easy to mass produce (if I changed the greeting around - totally awkward if I didn't!) to give to friends and family.
I'm squeaking in under the wire with this card for the CASology challenge today. Just under 3 hours until deadline! Yikes! This weeks' cue is Adore.

The Challenge #59
I have a fun announcement for you today! I've been asked to join the design team over at The Challenge! I joyfully accepted and today is my first day participating as an actual designer! I'm over the moon thrilled to be joining this incredibly talented team of ladies!
Since this is the first week of the month, this week's challenge is a sketch for you to try.
I turned it into a Valentine's Day card for my hubby. I kept the circle shapes on the side and then overlapped them with some silver embossed scribble circles. It adds just a little bit more interest and shine. I followed that by heat embossing the sentiment in the same silver to keep it uniform.
Here's a fun little tip for you - If you don't have many geometric shapes, look at your stamps from the other side. I have a set that had donut shapes in it and instead of using the actual stamp side, I turned them over on my block and used the back to stamp. That's actually how I got my medium and small circles! This is just a fun way to stretch your stamps when you don't have exactly what you're looking for.

I'll be honest with you, I struggled a little with this one. I tried to turn the circles into balloons for my first attempt and it just looked wonky. Instead, I decided to take a very literal interpretation and this is what I came up with.
