The Challenge 73

It's Monday and that means there's another challenge over from The Challenge design team! This week is a photo inspiration challenge and it's gorgeous!

I just love the beautiful colors in this photo and my eye was immediately drawn to the peony on the side. I love peonies! (They just happen to be the state flower of Indiana where I grew up!)

For this card, I used some soft watercoloring to create dimension in my stamped flowers. I'm not a watercoloring master, so I heat embossed the image before painting. It really does make it easier! I only used 3 colors for the painting - Distress Inks in Tattered Rose, Twisted Citron, and Pumice Stone. I used more pigment toward the portions I thought would be darker and then gradually lightened the color by using water to move the color outward from the shadow. I love how it turned out! I finished it off by heat embossing the sentiment in gold and adding a sprinkling of Sparkling Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
